Sonoma to Napa the Petrified Forest

Who would have thought that in 100 degree Farenheit temperatures we would stop for a hike in the petrified forest? Thousands of years ago the trees were covered by volcanic ash and eruptions and subsequent submerging under water replacing the wood with minerals like silicon creates petrified wood. A great tourist trap for those interested in fossils and geological history and a world apart from Napa and Sonoma. O yes...beware of rattlesnakes!
